Prop guns

This thread is archived.

  • I looking to make 2 prop guns both will be exactly the same, they will be of the Evoker from Persona 3. I don't need them to be real just appear that way. I have never made any before and was looking for some pointers of where to start and materials and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was looking at styrene but again never have worked with it. My extent of skills at this point are with Wood, and Wonderflex.

Here are some links to pictures of the gun.

  • Wood and styrene for the details would work nicely. That's how I make guns. Try a local plastics place for styrene. And if you need the details to be thicker, just combine pieces of styrene with lacquer thinner(melts styrene together). Glue on the styrene bits with epoxy or E-6000. Also, if you follow this guide on spraypainting, your evokers, they should look fairly realistic(Future acrylic floor polish is a good clear coat for metallice paint).

  • Awesome thank you for the info. ^_^ Ive never worked with styrene before. any recommendations on tutorials?

  • I basically followed this here when I made my Ebony & Ivory guns. You can basically apply alot of it to the evokers.

  • Yup, easiest way would be to cut out the basic shape of the guns and build up the details with either thinner wood or styrene. Being that the designs are pretty angular it shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm actually about half way through making Ebony and Ivory (guns literally sitting beside me), working from Blind Squirrel's plans, with this method and they are turning out pretty nicely so far.

  • Slightly along the "Pressed for time" lines, but:

You can find some very Evoker-looking guns at the toy section of your local wal-mart of k-mart (in my case). Even made a sound when sliding it back to cock it, and a very nice sound upon firing it. Painted it silver, adding details as I go.

That's what I planned to do because I don't have time to have my bf make one from scratch for me.

If you've got time use foam insulation. That's what my bf used for his Dante guns and they came out really good.
