I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, it's just... I'm a little uneasy of dressing up at Comic-Con...
And I know that most of you are going to tell me to not dress up just 'cause I'm questioning how many actually wear costumes there, but my friend is paying for me if I go, and I really want to go, but I'm not up for paying $75...No money. (She's like rich or something, and yes, we're going all four days) I'm not THAT big of a fan, but I really want to go there. I'm not asking for the exact number of people cosplaying, more like the percent. Like, if I went, would I see MORE than 40% of the people dress up? 'Cause I don't really want parents/random people to stare at me like I'm weird...

If I had to estimate a percentage of cosplayers of all the genres, it would be around 15-20% of the overall attendance that goes in costume. And as for the weird stares, there are hardly any unless it pertains from an interest on your costume, looks, or just plain curiosity. Most people there are probably too interested on whats happening around in the convention to give you any special notice unless your costume is relevant to their interests.

Weird stares you say? You won't get any of that unless you are doing something really foolish like runnin' around with your underwear or glomping people or something. And I've yet to meet someone who was cosplaying and got a weird stare.

with the Cosplay i use.. i get wierd stares, have made 3 little kids cry * 2 at PMX* and 1 at *Anime LA* i have had couple people follow me around,1 of them was a security guard lol.he followed me for bout 10-15 minutes it was funny.

when i went to Comic con last year id say around 15-25% cosplay. i only went on thursday due to being extremely sick for 5 weeks. couldnt make the other 3 days :'( but this year IM READY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bring it ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DO wear a costume to Comic Con...but not for long though and then I change into my regular street clothes : )

i go in costume.
i don't feel so weird doing it ... except when i get attacked by THOSE otaku (ahem) or get those "flying pictures" (i prefer when people ask first haha).

i think the stats for cosplay at comic con is every 1 in 10 people. not so sure though, haha.

The last con I was at, there weren't any weird stares. I think that for a lot of people, since you are all there for the same reason, it's more of a "Wow, look at that" than a "OMG!" that you would get walking down the street.

But I`m going for the duration of SDCC, and I`m only planning on two costumes. So if you want to wear one, wear one. No one will laugh at you.

I've never been to Comic-Con before, being from out of country and all ^_^() but its good to know people will be in costume all the days of the con....now if I can just figure out what the heck I'm bringing with me.....

Any weird stares that you shall receive are outside of the convention center. I got my fair share of that when walking to and from the con.

my question is if i was to go as Clare from claymore (her outfit from episode 3-black with the cape and the swords) would it not fit in right?

or if i went as lucy from elfen lied (the gray dress with the pink shirt underneath version).

I spent alot of time on my cosplay. I noticed last year not alot of anime was done and i wonder if it would not fit in if i decided to cosplay anime.

Oh my GOSH! I am watching (CLAYMORE) right now for a 3rd time and was wondering if I would EVER find a Cosplayer Cosplaying (CLARE from Claymore)!!! wow that would be sooo AWESOME! i have never found a Claymore Cosplay at any Con i have been to! I am not really sure if many people would know who you are Cosplaying.

Also would be so Awesome if you did a (Elfen Lied - Lucy) Cosplay! I do not see many of those around either except i was lucky to see 2 at AX last year!

If i am lucky enough to get a Comic-con Badge this year I want to most DEF take your picture! that is (if it is ok) (^.^)

I've attended Comic-Con every year from 2003 to 2011, mostly in costume. I've seen the percentage of costumed attendees increase over the years, but it fluctuates. I'd say 5-10% are in costume. When you figure there are over 100,000 attendees, that's a lot of costumes! Some days the proportion is much higher, Fri. and Sat., especially.

People do stare--in a very good way. They come to see the people in costume as much as to see their favorite attractions. If you like attention, you'll have people asking to take your photo, especially if you have a popular, intricate, inventive, or sexy costume. I was very popular as Lara Croft and now as I'm older, in my Steampunk attire.

Don't do it if you feel uncomfortable. You are there to have fun. Or just do something simple, like a hat or mask. If you feel self-conscious, do something that hides your identity, like Guy Fawkes. It's all about fun. There is so much to do! I love talking to artists and authors out on the floor. So much creativity and ambition. I love watching previews of science fiction movies--I discovered some of my favorites of all time. I love the Steampunk gathering on Saturday and the panels of my favorite authors. There is something for everyone into pop culture.
