Good photoshoot poses ?

  • So I'm cosplaying as Siesta 45 and I really want to have good photoshoots so I was wondering what could be good poses. I'm going to have a bow like hers so I thought of one where I'm posing like I shoot an arrow with closeup to the face but other than that I'm lost.
    So any suggestions, anyone?

  • Just for starts you could Google images "Siesta 45 Cosplay". I haven't seen Umineko but from what I read your character is a strong-type so I would suggest poses that emphasis those traits.

  • A salute pose would be good. Or both hands on hips with a strong leg stance. If you are in the process of a photo shoot, the photographer will usually communicate with you about poses. They might have a couple of ideas in addition to yours and any ideas in this topic :)

  • Couple of rules of thumb:
Exaggerated poses and facial expressions make for interesting and dramatic photos.
If you feel comfortable, you're not exaggerated enough.

As noted above, find poses that the character makes, or poses that other cosplayers have done, and mimic them. If you have a smartphone, take screenshots or save images, so you can refer back to them later when at the photoshoot.

  • Ask the photographer if you can actually move, as the photo is taken. This can make action poses look so much more realistic. The long hair will take different shape, as will the costume. You can look away, and turn your head suddenly, to make the hair move, or flip it with with your hands, and quickly strike a pose, before your hair falls completely. Be careful how the skirt moves, so you don't reveal too much.

Do some poses, without looking at the camera. If you are using a weapon, look in the direction you are aiming it.

Use the environment to your advantage. If there is a tree nearby, you can place your hands on in it. You can hide behind it, or just be relaxing against it. Sit on a rock or some stairs, etc.

  • Oh ok thank you everyone ^^

  • Agreed on the exaggerated poses, they translate much better in photographs than what one would normally do when posing. Also study your character!! Good models know how to act the part they are posing as. Really study the character's movements, facial expression and most importantly their personality. It really pains me as a photographer and gamer when I see a wickedly done costume for a bad*** character posing slutty... a fluffy bunny gets kicked when you do that.

(Unless this is for a personal/fetish shoot.... but even then a bunny gets kicked when you make Lulu pose on her knees in a submissive way.)
