There's going to be TWO.

http://ds.ign.com/articles/121/1219443p1.html

Pokemon Black 2, and Pokemon White 2.

Oh, and they're for Nintendo DS. No, not a typo, there's no "3" there. On the one hand, so nice of Nintendo to let those sans 3DS play the game. On the other, Pokemon isn't just a license to print money, it's a license to make it appear out of thin air, so why Nintendo isn't releasing this for their new system is not exactly a smart business move: in other words exactly as expected from Nintendo. Hopefully there will be some 3DS-exclusive features.

Anyway the cover Pokemon look to be Reshiram and Zekrom, with some sort of armor looking like it was made from Kyurem (who was expected to be the cover-Mon of the now-hypothetical Pokemon Gray) Could Pokemon fusion evolutions be in the works?

You know what they should do instead? Make one (Black 2, for example) on the DS and the other (White 2, for example) on the 3DS. Or something. I'm really hoping for 3DS-exclusive features. It just seems weird to me that Nintendo isn't releasing games for their new system, so what incentive do people have to buy it?

I'm still waiting for them to make a game with the Orange Islands in them...

This is a great business decision! Lots of ppl buy both versions, many pokemon fans typically prefer to play their pokemon on the cheapest ds version anyway, so this is essentially a move to maximize sales opportunities based on the demographic and expexcted poke-consumer behaviors.

This is based on what I know based on researching the company and blah blah blah, haven't done that in a while so I'm not up to date in what constitutes as a good move from nintendo.

I've heard that these will have both DSi and 3DS features.

If only there was a way to play DS games on the 3DS....oh wait...

Hope whenever this launches in the States, it's warm outside. No desire to stand outside Nintendo World w/the wife again for 4+ hours in the cold.

It's not so much a matter of being able to play DS games on the 3DS, but it is disappointing that yet again we're missing out on a full-3D Pokemon game for a handheld. Especially since Nintendo put out the 3D Pokedex with the launch of the system, so 3D models of said Pokemon are pretty much done. A fully 3D-ified sequel would just be epic.

And it's not like it's not unheard of for the franchise. Pokemon Gold and Silver were playable on the OG Game Boy, but had enhancements (namely, color) when playing on the GBC. Then, Crystal came along and was a GBC-exclusive.

Again, it's really more my own groaning here, as this will be yet another series of Pokemon games made for a 3D-capable platform that will not be in 3D. And this just screams of missed opportunity by Nintendo, as it's obvious that they're going for short-term profits of having yet another Pokemon game everyone and their brother will buy, instead of making it for a new system and forcing people to upgrade to get it. Cuz if there's a franchise that will make people buy a new system, it's Pokemon.

This. Everything you just said. They already have 3D models of all the monsters. Sure, they need to make the towns and trainers, but the Pokemon are taken care of. But the most important issue is that this gives people another reason to not upgrade to the 3DS. What's the point of getting a new system if all the major games are just going to be for the old technology? It makes no sense. If a main Pokemon game (not Rumble Blast or whatever) was a 3DS exclusive, wouldn't people buy a 3DS?

And as a 3DS owner I just wonder why I bought this system if I'm just going to use it to play the same games my DS Lite plays. Where's the love, Nintendo?

So this time, they didn't bother just going with another related colour, but are instead trying to pass it off as sequels by sticking a 2 on the end. We all know it's gonna be the same game with a few differences, like always.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMeh.

Nintendo...you need to start using your big guns. Pokemon MMORPG made by Retro. DO IT ALREADY.

#11 Koljen on 7 years ago

I wonder if the story is going to be the same as White/Black, a continuation, or almost the same, as it usually is with the third game in the series.

#12 Mesoian on 7 years ago

I agree with Alex Navarro, the new pokemon looks like a Ginjika version of Ke$ha

If it means making the first Pokemon game on 3DS be Gen 6, so be it. I'd rather they get to work on Gen 6 sooner anyway, and if the B/W sequels are in DS that means less time is needed. I am ok with this.
