Rule 63 Cosplay

• I love seeing gender-bent cosplays. I myself have done a lot of Rule 63 cosplays and plan on doing so for Otakon. My views on Rule 63 are the same for Gijinkas. 1) The character should be recognizable, and 2) nothing too slutty, unless it fits the character's personality. ^^

• There's been a lot of threads on this, but usually just referred to as genderbent. It seems like it has died down a bit, there was a while where it seemed like there were a ton... and most of them not very good, to be honest. When a LOT of thought is put into it, it can be good, but most cases I always saw people giving a male character a skimpy outfit that didn't even seem like something within the character's personality to wear. Sometimes it was also just "I didn't feel like binding, so I'm female version so-and-so."

Personally, I have no interest. If I want to pay homage to a male character, I'll do whatever I can to hind my female bits and wear his outfit.

• I've Rule 63'ed Leon from Kingdom Hearts, and as far as I can tell, I'm one of the only people to put him (her?) in shorts, as oppose to a skirt. The character just doesn't strike me as a skirt-wearing type of person. There are a couple of things I want to fix (want new shorts, and new shirt, and need to fix my arm belts).

But personally, as long a gender-bent version of a Character stays true to the character and personality of said Character, then everything is fine. It's when male-to-female versions get overly sexy that it seems like blatant attention-whoring, and when female-to-male versions seem more like a person to go on a shopping rampage at Hot Topic that I begin to have a problem. But when costumes are well thought out and well made I actually do enjoy seeing the interpretations.

• I'm working on a Rule 63 Kiba (Well, technically it can be a Sexy Justsu right?) An I'm keeping the best aspects and not making it over smexy and reveling, but keeping it playful and cute. I love how creative and awesome people can make them when you can still reconize who they are.

• I'm doing a Male Saber, the suit version from Fate/zero. I thought gender bending it to a male would be nice.
but when I came across this http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Fate/Prototype I dun think rule 63 applies anymore.
O.O

Fate/Prototype was the original base for the Fate series but as stated in the link, the developers changed alot of things and it become known as Fate/stay night.
Saber was originally male u see, so..... comments? about this? still a rule 63 or not?

• I'm currently REALLY nervous about this because I've been working on a Rule 63'd Naked Snake/Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3. I really didn't "feminize" the outfit at all because I didn't see a female Snake wearing anything "girly" out in the jungle.

If I was Solid Snake, the stealth suit would show off my curves more and probably be more of a recognizable rule 63, but I'm afraid that with the bulky fatigues and excess of gear I'll just look like a lazy crossplayer that didn't want to bind or apply the facial hair, or that it really won't be valued because it doesn't add anything "sexy".
