Wow, $45 for the weekend and only 2 days? I was planning to go to this but... Not if that's the price- its SO not worth it considering its track record... Especially when AN is only $45 at pre-reg for 3 days and its WAYYYYYYYYYY bigger and better... So dot-con is off my list... its too bad really, but then again its not...

And what's with the Friday-Saturday thing? In the middle of the school year? Yeah if it was Friday-Sunday like AN sure... but this is just rediculous... Im not in school, but my gf is and asking for a day off is just... well her parents wouldnt let her even if we DID want to pay that much for 2 day con with less stuff then $15 MTAC...

agreed, I am not really looking to spend that much.

Sorry about that...I made a mistake when putting the information up here. It's $40 for the weekend pre-reg and $45 at-the-door for the weekend. And it's Sauturday and Sunday not Friday and Saturday.

You should check the website in case I missed anything here (like the mistake I made when I posted) since the information there is concrete.

ah, well thats better for the dates, but I'm still not happy with $40, even with a $5 off food donation or w/e... I'd go if it was $25, but no more then that...

#6 captain0marauding on 8 years ago

Ugh... I think I'll just go on the Sunday this year. I don't think that I'll have enough to spend for the entire weekend. I'll be Magnet Kaito, and if I go for both days, I'll redo Sebastian as well.

I never really enjoyed Dot-con the first time I went. It was rather dull and like usual are in hotels. It's small and just started a few years ago, if it doesn't leave a good first impression I won't be going again.

words cannot describe how bad it was last year.......

All I have to say to this is.... oh snap!

#10 Ika on 8 years ago

I think this con is far too expensive for what it is. I'm paying anime north rate for what is essentially a lobbycon (dtac, mtac, etc etc)
I'd like to go, but I can't help but feel like it's a bit of a rip-off.

#11 Yami Sasha on 8 years ago

I was really considering it this year, but that price is making me say NO!

I'll just use that cash for something like DTAC instead.

Oh snap indeeeeed.

I'm gonna have to drink the Kool-Aid with everyone else, here. For what Dot-Con is, $40-45 is overpriced. That IS, after all, what you pay at Anime North, which is a far larger event that has been around for longer and honestly just has a lot more things to see and do.

I was considering giving this convention a chance despite its track record, but no way would I at that price.

#14 stevo32 on 8 years ago

Yeah, it really wasn't that great last year. $40 is definitely too much. I might be bored enough to come, but I expect attendance to be about 20.

#15 little-caitlin on 8 years ago

>_> its possibly the closest con to where i'll be living for school this year... but, going to have to agree with everyone else. I've never gone, but I've never any heard 'epic DotCon tales' either.
$40 is too much.
