Anyone dressing up as DC charries? With The Dark Knight out, you'd think there'd be some people crazy enough to dress up, yeah? ;)

If I get to come this year (I have no idea if we will be able to or not at this point, it's just too early), then I may come as the Riddler (either the blazer with question marks all over it version or the original animated series version), since I'm planning on doing that costume for Halloween, and it'd be fun to wear it to a con of some sort.

So, Riddle me this, fellow cosplayers...will you be attending as a fellow DC character and be interested in a gathering? =D

Every year I do a male version of Harley Quinn fusing her outfit layout with my style.
It changed a little this year.
For '09 this version will be complete or 95% complete- which is more complete than it has ever been.

I've never been part of a gathering- but I'm in.

Hey, me neither. I just thought it might be fun, and with all of the Jokers running around this year, methinks this board might make it happen again next year. (You've gotta admit there were truckloads of Joker cosplayers).

#4 Nosferous on 10 years ago

There were a ton of Jokers, way more than normal- which I knew was going to happen with TDK release.

But WOW what I wasn't expecting was how many more Harley Quinns this year than ever before to any Con/Expo I've been to.

Most of them looked nearly identical for obvious reasons...

Though this year I was very excited to see a very awesome alt-style female Harley and for the first time I've run into at a Con another Male Harley. Had to get a picture with both- good stuff.

It'll be interesting to see what next year is like for Batman cosplay.

I'm more in favor of BtaS Riddler than the question marks all over Riddler.

also looking forward to seeing your Harley - KwEeNofKoRn.

Well, the question marks all over one would mirror the one from both the comics and the 60's show (I'm not doing a skintight suit, thank you very much), but BtAS would be a lot easier, but I just don't know if it'll be quite as recognizable, knowing that his cane ornament is not in the shape of a question mark on top and there wouldn't be so much detail. =|

A real Batman fan would recognize it. :)

This is my friends version of it:

The cane is heeaaavvvyyyy...well, the ? mark on top is. The cane itself is super light- it's kind of weird to hold at first.

Hmm, I could bring my Joker costume...the one I've been wearing quite a lot of as of late...or maybe that Nurse variant I'm working on for Halloween. ALTHOUGH, I have been trying to get two other groups up as of late...

#8 Nosferous on 10 years ago

You have most of a year 'til Con. Do some side work for Comic-Con funds, if you have a group consider hostels and filling a room so you won't have to worry about stuff [I really enjoyed the hostel experience when I went to NYC by myself.] If I lived in SD I'd offer a free place to stay to all Cosplay folks, sadly I do not and not sure I could get all I'm renting with next year at con on-board for something like that. I imagine that's the bulk of the cost concerns.

I hope things pan out and you can all make it.

Honestly, with Gotham Public Works being so nearby would make me too nervous to go as a Bats character. Especially with how overdone Harl has become suddenly with the release of TDK. @[email protected];;;
Oh well. Things will change. Maybe another year ^^

#10 Nosferous on 10 years ago

lol, as a friend of everyone in GPW- do not be nervous as dressing up for Con as a Batman related character. They are fantastic, but they do more with their characters than just cosplay to Con- those characters are a passion of theirs.

It's all about having fun.
I don't have a problem with character cosplay blowing up- but it would be nicer if there was more custom work involved rather than so many purchased standardized versions.

What I really like seeing is alternative versions of characters- someones own take on it with their own cosplay.

It's understandable though. -shrug- They're friggen amazing. xD! But I always hear people making comments about comparisons, which are kind of tough sometimes.

And I'm sure there are tons of other costumes I would AORE to wear to cons...and I can just wear my Harls to smaller cons than this one ;) But it is something I took into consideration when it came to what-to-wear-at-SDCC. I mean, fortunately I just love to make costumes and dress up, so that's good to go ;)

Haha really! I wouldn't have guessed from your costume :D Lol. I jest! I love your costume, and I think it's rather fun that you switch it up often. Keeps it from getting boring! :D As I get better at making stuff and designing the things I make, I'll probably do that some. But there IS some amount of absolute fun and joy in doing a really accurate cannon version of the character too x] Especially for a first cosplay :3

Haha, that's awesome. =3 If the top is too heavy, maybe I could add some weight at the bottom of the cane to balance it somehow...it'd be nice to have it be twirl-able.

#13 Nosferous on 10 years ago

han-pan:
Yeah, comparisons are tough, I like to compliment on efforts not compare.

I wish I had more creations to wear to con to choose- I'm trying to change that.

hehe, thank you!
If I was female I'd probably try to work out a cannon Harley Quinn. I have a few ideas to maybe work out for other characters for CC09- those I will other than the hair probably make as accurate as I can with what free time I have. Hopefully- I really want to expend my options of what to wear/cosplay as next year or maybe even for AX.

Rekka:
If you want it twirlable then yeah, you'll need to balance it out somehow. I know my friends is not. It's a feather at one end and 10-15lbs at the other. [just a guess]

Our friend does iron/metal work- so yeah, it's heavy. They also made us a sign for our place gate that looks like the Asylum writing on Arkham and says "Asylum." (:

#14 Rekka on 10 years ago

Yeah...

Very cool. =D

#15 Naxul on 10 years ago

My group and I are planning on going as a Batman group!! Super excited for it!

Naxul - Huntress
Ms Nintendo - Poison Ivy
Mr. Nintendo - The Joker
DragonRose13 - Catwoman
and then the other two will be Batman and Harley Quinn

And we might have a Riddler, most likely not though.
