Anime Vegas 2011 Dates have been announced!

  • Be sure you mark your calendar's correctly! Anime Vegas has moved to November 11, 12, & 13! (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). It's over the Veteran's Day weekend. They still haven't announce the location - but it should come soon!

So DON'T go to Vegas looking for the con over Labor Day! The temperatures should be MUCH COOLER in November!

  • wow, so I will have cancel my vacation dates on Labor day, I havent emailed Rich to didnt get his confirmation.Let me see If I can request those dates.

  • hmm another year im not able to go to Anime Vegas. I am already committed to PMX again this year. oh well, perhaps next year....

  • OH you right PMX is on the same weekend but last years PMX was so so , I might go to Vegas instead because Rich is my buddy, mm I paid for PMX already.. well it doesnt matter.

  • I'm really sad. I've been going to AV for 6 years, but because of the move to Veterans weekend, I won't be able to go. :(

  • I bet there will lesser peeps who can go because of the date change and the LA crowd who goes might not make it because of the PMX conflict... but it might be a better facility etc etc

  • The location has been announced! It will be back at the Alexis Park Hotel! (Same location as last year)

I hope this helps with finding a hotel to stay at!

  • what Alexis Park again !!! I didnt like that place.I was planning on joining the masquerade but I didnt like that facility at all.I dont think it worked well for the Masquerade.

mm I think I i will change my mind.

my friend had a rough time there, he has a walking disability and he requested for a room near the convention area but instead they put him in a room that was a far one because all the near ones are taken by another con goer for an event happening early that week.

I didint stay there, thank goodness but I didnt like the facility at all.

There were some nice part of their convention area but it sure was pretty small.
Sorry Rich , I think I will skip Anime Vegas this year.I am going to miss all my voice actor friends who are going there

  • I stayed at the Alexis Park Hotel last year when i went to Vegas to see Momoi Halko. i did not like that hotel 1 bit.

the room was one of the worst i have ever stayed in.
weird sounds coming from the kitchen sink ALL night.
Door had a inch half gap under it where bugs were coming in.
    toilet didnt flush.
    bathtub was filthy.
    hair on the floor.
Gangstas parking in the parking lot to go to place across the street.
2 cars got broken into the night i was there.

The Front Desk Clerks were nice... thats bout it.

if anime Vegas was at any other location i would go but err....

  • I am definitely thinking about going this year to AV. :) Previous years since it was always on Labor Day Weekend it would conflict with Dragon*Con, but now the move to November gives me the chance to return to Vegas for an actual convention.

November is usually when I go to Anime USA near Washington DC and this year I might skip it (it's the weekend after AV) and go to a different con.

AV is the same weekend as PMX, but I went in 2008 and thought it was an okay con. While PMX might be a little closer to me, and maybe a little cheaper, I want to go to a different con, and have fun seeing some friends, meeting new cosplayers, and it'll be nice to take pictures during the day and then gamble a little in the evening. :D

I look forward to seeing everyone in November!

  • I plan to go to this one, i've never heard of this con and I live here, lol.
How the hell i've missed it since 04ish? That I will never know.

Oh and random fact, locals get discounts on most stuff, sometimes hotels too ^^.

  • In the past , Anime Vegas was at the Cashman Center and then once at the Renaissance HOtel then back at the Cashmans and then at Alexis.

All were during the Labor Day weekened. So it was pretty hot during the convention,

I would say I like the Cashman center for its facilitites, the Renaisance worked because it was a Hotel but it was small while the Alexis has their own mini convention area but the hotel is like a Motel to me and it didnt work for summer.

Out of the facility, I dont like the Alexis the most.If you are driving to Vegas , I wont recommend staying at that place.

The Cashman was awesome for its exhibit hall, their panel rooms and their excellent theater. They have a place for dancing and stuff , the only problem is that there are no nearby hotels business except for one a Best Western .
    but there are shuttles.
At the Cashman , it felt like it was a real mini big convention.

I can still attend this convention but I really dont like the facility , so i still have to decide if I am going or not .I might have to apologyze to Rich. I really wanted to do the Masquerade too this year but ...

Anyway , I knew about Anime Vegas from Rich itself, I only missed the first free one.if I lived there then I would be helping him staff his convention but I live in LA.

I am reaching an age where conventions are fun If I do something for that convention but seeing my favorite voice actors is a plus.

I agree. The Alexis hotel unfortunately, is a real dump as compared to the other previous facilities, and it's making me really hesitate & think twice in attending AV when that hotel was selected as the host hotel. (Even the Motel 6 in Las Vegas got a higher rating than the Alexis in the hotel reviews of Vegas hotels.) I'm surprised that Rich picked it again, but it may be due to the difficulty of securing a hotel that doesn't have a casino. (That's not an easy feat in Vegas.)

It would be a different story if AV held it at the Las Vegas Convention Center, but that may not happen for a long, long, long while.

I don't mind AV switching to the Veteran's Day weekend instead of the Labor Day weekend, (The days are much cooler in Vegas during that time) but I do hope that it won't be the Alexis again for AV in 2012.

  • Yeah I dont mind the move of dates either , the heat was always the problem with cosplaying. We will wait and see/

  • I like the fact that AV is during the cooler part of the year. That's a huge plus in my book. I get that it's tough to find a family friendly (and affordable) facility in Las Vegas. Yet, I did not really like the Alexis Park hotel. I thought it was too tiny to handle AV and it just had the impression of a roach motel. Our group stayed at Harrah's and drove back and forth. Not to mention that the breakfast buffet was a joke (food and service).

Yet, I'll be going to PMX that weekend since I usually help out with panels and programming. I would love to give AV another shot, but due to schedule conflicts, I'll miss hanging out with my Vegas buddies.
