Alrighty, its close to the close of another yr
First Nite Boston, New Years Eve
@ the Hynes convention center
The New England Anime Society for the past few yrs has hosted a section with anime viewings going pretty much all day(with breaks).
I'm sure about this year too, plus its still an excuse to get a cosplay congregation goin. Cheers and pics will occur as usual.
If anyone has more info on this, shout it out.
Usual meet time on the eve is about 2pm-4, but again, things go till midnight, so can be anytime ^^
Get it on.
(yes, "maybe's" accepted, but not American Express)

Some more information about First Night, which is where the NEAS will be showing their features.

Buttons right now are 15 bucks. You can find them starting on Nov. 23 (Friday after Thanksgiving) at Boston-area Shaw’s and Star Markets, Store 24, L’il Peach, Tedeschi’s, Au Bon Pain. You're better off getting them now, because on Dec 31st they will be 20, (with a 5 donation added on. It's tax deductible). The buttons are good inside the Hynes, and other locations around town. I won't be there till later, because I will be face painting inside the Hynes (If it's the same spot as last year, I will be where the Dealer's room was.) I will be wearing something costume-related, just not sure what yet. I'm sorely tempted to do a snow moogle.

I don't get finished till around six, so if you're still in the Hynes, I'll find you. Oh! And you all can pre-reg for Providence there too!

NEAS will be doing anime screenings at First Night again in 2007/2008.

ALONG WITH PREREG FOR ANIME BOSTON 2008 and PROVIDENCE ANIME CONFERENCE!!!

I'm actually considering spending New Years in Boston this year...

#5 Crazy Flower on 11 years ago

Do it! There are deals for hotels with First Night on their website!

I think I am going to do the snow moogle, with ears and a head covering. Besides, I get to shop for fabrics and wear warm clothes.

warm inside anyway usually, you know that ^^ face painting this yr?

#7 Crazy Flower on 11 years ago

Yep. Gives me a vest and free button. Yeah, it's warm inside, but I like going outside as well. I did that with my kitty last year, and loved it. Of course, nobody would get the snow moogle, but I want to do it anyway.

I don't know if we really have plans for new years yet. I have always wanted to go to first night in Boston but never had the chance. We'll see what happens ^^

Well, if the PAC on-line registration isn't up by 12/31 I'll probably have to come so that I can register for it in person! ^_^
wait free vest!?!?!
Yeah, you get a nifty free vest for volunteering for face painting (or working inside the hynes), or if you work as an usher or parade person, you usually get a free jacket. Along with a button given to you after you're done. I have a few pictures of me ending up either in the Globe or Boston.com because of my costumes. I was even interviewed last year by NECN. (This happens when you wear facial prosthetics)

I'm annoyed that First Night Boston is going to print the wrong times for the anime screenings in their program guide for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW. GRRRRR!

They have them running for 45 minutes with a 30 minute break between screenings. We did that twice (Dec 2003 and Dec 2004) and it didn't work well at all. Now that they still haven't fixed their printed schedule, it will mean that people will be showing up for screenings at the wrong times AGAIN.

Sorry, but I'm really annoyed with them right now. I pointed this out twice last year and thought they'd fix it. I thought wrong.

The schedule on http://firstnight.neanime.org/ is the correct one. Hopefully we can at least get them to put the correct information on the FirstNight.org web site.

#14 Crazy Flower on 11 years ago

When do you have to submit the schedules for First Night, Pat? I'm surprised if they keep doing this over and over. My guess is that they take the schedules from last year and keep re-using them. You may have to get one of your AB info boards and put it up next to the Pre-Reg table. It does say for more information check firstnight.org. (My guess is that these are already printed, or at least at the press so you're stuck)

Ooh! My dance school will be there again! They'll be in the same room as me face painting.
