Buying fake breasts and what kind?

  • Hi! I'm putting this in the crossplay section even tho I'm not crossplaying, but I think I'll get the best answer here. I'm a girl with small boobs that loves cosplaying big boobed ladies. I usually use a TON of push up bras an stuff, but a lot of these boobie-ladies have costumes where bras are out if the question. So I was wondering if you could recommend me some fake breasts! I want them to look realistic and be quite large. I don't have a definite budget, but I'm not exactly wealthy. But give me all you've got! I'd rather have too many options than too few.
    Thanks everyone!

  • I like chest plates for looks that are more revealing. Boobs for Queens and Elea's Closet are two more reputable brands (but also more expensive!) They also have some decent ones on Etsy, but definitely scope out the reviews before investing!

I personally use silicone breast forms (like a mastectomy patient might use) inside a bra, then push my natural chest up to create more realistic cleavage.

  • ok, thank you! I've looked into those sites, but I'm really unsure what to buy.. do I buy a whole breastplate or a pair of self adhesive ones? I'm sorry for all the questions!

  • Sorry for the delayed response! Didn't mean to leave you hanging!

Which ones you buy really depends on how revealing the look will be. If it's just standard cleavage, I would consider getting an insert to essentially fill out a larger bra, then pushing your natural chest up to the top so the skin that shows is natural looking (most breast forms look very plastic-y).

The only time I would push for a full breastplate is if the look is unusually revealing or shows cleavage from an unusual angle (think sideboob). For instance, my Mileena costume has a cutout in the center of it, so she's essentially showing inner-cleavage. I wouldn't want to show the inner edge of an insert or self-adhesive breast form because they usually have a plastic trim. So in that case, i would use a full breastplate.

    I hope that helps!!

  • What would you recommend for this:

For the purple gown? If you want to keep the neckline wide, I'd push up (and possibly tape!) your natural chest and stuff your bra. Maybe also contour your chest so it gives that really pronounced cleavage effect.

The downside with breastplates is they have obvious seams on the sides and top. The top can be covered easily with a necklace, but the sides would be awkward to cover in a gown that has such a wide/low neckline.

    Hope that helps! :)

  • It does, thanks!
