Hey all,

I'm currently in the process of making a Woody from Toy Story costume and most of the parts (shirt, trousers, bandana, hat) etc have either been made (or close to) or acquired but I'm having a major issue finding a pair of boots here in the United Kingdom that is close to what Woody wears in the movies.

Has anyone seen anything out there on the internet?

Thanks!

Well, living in Texas I see boots every time I thrift shop, but that's a location specific advantage.

You will more than likely have to suck it up and pay shipping costs from the Americas. There are great boot makers in Mexico and Central America as well as in the US, but shipping from the US will be more reliable. Definitely look for used ones, good cowboy boots are not cheap.

I dont know if you need mens or womens, but here's a few UK options for cowboy/wrangler boots. Unfortunately, as Penlowe pointed out, its a pretty distinctive american western look. You'll also need spurs in addition to the boots.

Maybe you'll have some luck on ebay?

For custom boots you'd easily be looking at $300-$500 USD. EASILY. Importing some boots from the US or painting a pair that is the wrong color would be MUCH cheaper and easier.

That's a very strong option at this point as the more I think about it, the more its going to be a costly job with a pair of custom boots. Also, adding customs charges on top would make it a very costly commission I reckon.
I even searched Etsy to see if anyone was making them as that’s normally a great place for that sort of thing, and although there are people on there selling Woody’s shirt, vest etc, nobody is making his boots.
It's just because you are looking for footwear. It's a completely different ballgame from 'costume' construction. A shirt can be low quality cotton and raw seams but footwear has to stand up to being worn regardless of the purpose or look of it. Making shoes or boots is highly specialized skill set requiring a number of expensive specialized tools. So, nobody who knows how to make shoes is going to make 'wear once' shoes.

Whilst I agree with some of the stuff you're saying, I disagree with other parts. I don't mean they have to make a pair of his boots from the ground up at all. A lot of people (like a guy that makes Kylo Ren's boots) uses a pair of already made boots but modifies them to make them look like the ones Kylo wears.
