Hi all,

I made a thread a few weeks ago about cosplaying Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia, who has a basic plain short haircut but half red / half white.

I was suggested buying a wig, cutting it and dyeing it, and restitching it together. I did this, and I think the result of the stitch is fine with some minor tweaking.

However, the dyed side hair feels almost...damaged? I dyed it using Arda's suggested Rit dyes by following the instructions of bringing water to a near boil, simmering it, putting the wig in it, and stirring it. I let it go 5 minutes at a time for about 15-20 min to get the desired color. After, I towel dryed it and let it air out, then let it soak for a half day in fabric softener to revitalize it some.

However its still very stiff and awkward to work with. Whats some other options?

This sounds dumb but have you tried washing it after you did the dye and fabric softener? I'd imagine it still has some chemicals left in it that you should be safe to just wash out assuming the dye was done correctly.
