I'm looking into starting my Squirrel Girl cosplay soon for 2015. With the new announcement of her very own comic run, I thought it would be a good idea to show her off at Wizard World Cleveland in Feb.

I have a few questions first how to go about doing this costume:

1. What type of fabric should I use for her tail, jumper and boots?
2. How should I go about making her tail?
3. I noticed she has acorn earrings. Would acorn earrings be easy to make for non-pierced ears?

1) Fur fabric. Or minky/velboa if you don't want too much fluffy fur everywhere catching in zippers.
2) Probably an armature with some hella strong wireframe.
3) oh, yeah. You can get little ear clips at a craft shop or cannibalize a pair of clip-on earrings from a thrift shop. Or search ebay, you might find something on there.

First off, you are my hero for making Squirrel Girl.
As far as fabric goes, check out my images for what I did to make Rocket Raccoon, may be what you are looking for- the short fur used in the gloves and boots was bought in a fabric shop in NYC's fashion district while the longer fur is from fabric.com specifically this one

As for a tail, I'd suggest this tutorial to get you started:

For Squirrel Girl I would use the foam tutorial near the bottom.

Good luck!

It looks like I will be planning her for Fan Expo Canada next year. I have a few other cosplays to get out of the way first, but she will be a lot of fun once I get started on her!
