Does anyone have any ideas about how to make this cloak?

I dunno, but I'll have to find out, My son wants to portray an Org 13. It looks like a zoot suit with bell bottom sleeves and a hood, but as long as a duster.

I don't know exactly either, I also want to create one of the orginization cloack's. But i do not want to create mine using Pleather, or Leather because it makes the costume look shiny and weird...

Umm... you might want a better picture as a reference first. The pic seems blurry and you can't really see the designs that are on the coat, on chain around his neck, or the ends of the strings that are connected to his hood.
Coat: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...rc/orgcoat.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...imerc/back.jpg Shoes: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ork_Xemnas.jpg Collar Stuff (minus the silver mouse ears... I think that's just Mickey's personal touch): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...c/wp002-01.jpg The coat/cloak is simple... If you have a raincoat or any other type of coat that is similar to it's shape copy that pattern and modify it. The sleeves start out like normal sleeves, a little loose on your arms but then flare out at about the elbow and only leave your fingers showing. The top of the cloak (aka the torso and shoulders) is a bit fitted on you while at the waist it flares out. Also, make the cloak a little bigger than yourself so that you can bunch up fabric in order to show the designs on the cloak. That's all I can do for you right now... ^^;;; Good luck! I'm making one too for Mickey (hence why there are a few Mickey pics here). I'll see if I can help you more later (if you still need it)... I think I'll try and finish my costume first. Edit: I don't really know what fabric is best for the cloaks... It doesn't look like leather/pleather to me... I'm using some type of polyester (I think... ^^;;; ) that looks a tad shiny when in light, but allows my skin to breath so I don't sweat all over the place. ~minimerc Last edited by minimerc : 04-11-2006 at 05:45 PM. |

It really depends on your preference, but if you were to be accurate to the Deep Dive FMV, it's most likely be a leather/pleatherish thing I think.
Though anything with a blend of cotton in it'll be a GOOD deal cooler! XD I'm working on the coat pattern right now... I'm using the patterns for a rain coat and one of those Matrix dusters... As a note, no matter what pattern you use, you most likely WILL have to extend the hood. Normal hoods aren't meant to completely shroud your face ^.^;;; ~Ari-chan

Another option is to browse a Simplicity pattern book at your local fabric store (namely, Jo-Anns). There's a costume section in there and you can purchase patterns of trench coats. You can modify these to your likeing.
I'm planning to make an org 13 coat, but I'm doing the tribal black and white variant that...
I also plan to make it fully waterproof, so I can actually use it as a raincoat.

For my cloak pattern I just pretty much used a duster pattern I got off the rack in the clearance isle at Walmart, it works pretty well and I have a different pattern I will use for the hood (TJ Hinata's hood pattern is HUGE XDD)
but does anyone have any idea on how to do the 'strings' on the hood? the little things you pull on to make your hood crunch up?XD As well as the necklace looking thing that goes around their collar? I figured I would just attach a chain on either side and not make it fully functional (cheat cheat XDD) And for the long long zipper, since I doubt theres any zipper that really goes for that long unless your super short like me XD but I did find a zipper long enough to go almost as low as to the crotch area and at Walmart, I found that they sold trimmings (?) I dont know if thats the right term for it or not but yes, they sell trimmings in the shape/appearance of a zipper so you can just trim the remaining edges of your cloak with that to give the appearance that you have a uberly long zipper ![]() |

Okay, I've been starting up my cosplay as an organization XII member, and first I'd say study your characters cloak a bit. If you look you can tell that most of the cloaks vary. Like Demyx, his sleaves are like... I don't know they point out at the top and then they hug his arms the rest of the way down. While Axel his are like Demyx's but they don't point out at the top. Then the card guy (don't remember his name) has loose sleeves.
Also, my friends pointed this out cause she was studying it... the string like things... they jingle in the game... so.. those are actually chains. If you really want to cheat on the necklace you could always connect the chain to like a button type thing and just have them buttoned to your cloak. Oh and by the way don't forget about the boots under the cloak! xD They seem kind of hard to do (since I've never tried shoes) but I'm thinking about getting a pair of like rain boots and trying to modify them, and those type of boots only cost like 17$ at Walmart. |

for the boots, since they mostly look like their hugging the legs unlike rainboots that looks more loose, why not use boot covers using the same material you would use for the cloak so its still rain proof?

I'm super short and I'm not planning to enter in any contests, so I'm wearing my platform boots XD
I was told there's a product that's like rain-X for leather/pleather so it can be a functional rain coat ![]() Organization photoshoot in the rain = HOT. ~Ari-chan

Err, I'm gonna move this because it's an entire costume and not a prop or accessory for sure. ^^;

I'm making an Organization XIII coat for a Roxas cosplay ^^ I don't know if there are long enough zippers in stores for this cosplay... Especially since the zipper would have to be separating and two way. I DID find this website, however. It's a bit expensive, but if you can't find a good zipper anywhere else..

I don't know exactly if this would work but what about having the zipper places upside down so that it zips from the bottom?
I was also curious about the drawstrings as well, those are a pain to find. Anyone? |
