I just learned one of my con friends cosplays Dr. Bumby. We live far away from each other so we only get to hang out at certain cons. I'm most likely not going to see him until November though. But when we do see each other, we need to get some photos especially one where I'm pushing him.

(Wow I haven't been in this thread since March, whoops.)
Hey there everyone! I'm having a bit of trouble making Alice's gloves for her Misstitched dress. I've found a couple of tutorials on how to make gloves in general, but I'm not sure if they would work for her fingerless gloves. I'm looking at this tutorial. Do you guys think it would work if I cut off the tips, and made it fingerless? And as an added bonus, here's how my Level 1 Hobby Horse looks so far. c: I used floral foam, paper mache and air dry clay. c: I still have to make the piece that connects the head to the pole. I'm also thinking about making this guy a lot shorter. as I am roughly 5'7-5'8-ish (barefoot), and it with wheels on the ground, it comes up to my nose. lol So I'm probably going to knock off a few inches to make it shorter. And here's the wip Misstitched dress. Never again will I work with that much bias tape. I'm sure there were easier ways to do the stripes and plaid, but oh well. lol

HeartlessNobody: Your dress is looking so cute! It might have been a hassle to use all that bias, but it looks great so far.

Thanks. As much of a pain as it was to work with it, I really do like how it came out. c:

So my level 1 hobby horse Is almost complete.
I need to add the bridle and do some paint touch-ups (as I somehow managed to get green paint on the side it's face.) There are somethings that I wish I could change, like the shape of it's head and the length of it's snout, but over-all I'm satisfied with it. Now I just have to make my gloves and finish my apron and then Misstitched is all done.

Looking back on it now - would you consider paint or would you still have done your skirt with bias tape? also I'm working on my gloves tonight I'll let you know if I find any solutions that are nice and easy and look good.

Me personally, if I had the chance to redo the skirt, I'd still choose bias tape, as I have a really hard time keeping fabric paint in straight clean lines. As annoying as it was to work with roughly 16 yards of pink tape for the skirt, I'd still prefer that over trying to make sure the paint is in a straight clean line. lol
And awesome! let me know how they turn out.

I did my gloves tonight. I bought a striped 4 way stretch spandex for them so they are SUPER stretchy. Because the fabric had so much give and the gloves just had half fingers I went ahead and just traced my hand, cut and stitched the gloves. It definitely isn't the right way to construct them but i felt like it did the job. I also had to put elastic in the ruffles to help keep them tight too O.o I think it came out okay.

That glove looks amazing!
Unfortunately my fabric isn't all the stretchy, so I'm trying to take extra precautions so I don't screw it up. I've made roughly 10 trial gloves and I still keep messing up the fingers. (which is weird considering the gloves are only half fingers. Maybe I just have fat fingers.)

@Yummy: Your gloves look great. When you have a fabric that stretches that much, you can totally get away with how you constructed them.
And I know I've posted other photos before, but I have a few more of my brother's girlfriend Ashley in her Steamdress. Good Full Body Shot Clock Bow Back (though the lights made it where you can't see the bow) Ashley looking like she might kill Skoot (Seriously, can you believe that goofy dude made that horse?)

As for the Hobby Horse (he thinks it's okay, not perfect) is made from a PVC pipe, a cardboard skeleton framework, expanding insulation foam that he carved, a layer of masking tape, papier mache, gesso, paint, wonderflex, vinyl, plastic chain, LEDs for the eyes, more cardboard and foam for the underneath the head, cardboard to make the pyramids on the bridle, and the bottom part is cardboard with a layer of masking tape and papier mache. Soon he wants to remove the outer shell, down to just having it as the cardboard skeleton and insulation foam so that he can redo the mane and make it thinner, add all the details in 3-D, and then redo the outside. He got rushed at the very end because about two months before the con she debuted the costume at, he got second and third degree burns on his hand when the fire in our grill erupted on him. Once he was healed he dove back into working on it, doing the final touches the night before she wore the costume for the first time. He's such a perfectionist I doubt he will ever be 100% happy with it. Though he does plan to make a tutorial on it eventually.

@Yummy: My local fabric store didn't have stretch fabric with the the stripes, so I got stuck with the the next best thing. I love the fabric I picked for the gloves, I'm just worried that once I make the scrap gloves properly, I'll do something to mess up the ones with the actual fabric so. ;__;
@Mehdia: Oh wow! Her costume looks amazing! And that hobby horse. So all I have left to do for Misstitched is fix the bow, add some final details to the dress (the white stitching, and the stuffing from the sleeve.) and then make my gloves and this dress is finished! I'm so excited to finish it.
